Teacher: Serena Ammendola
Aims:Knowledge of the theoretical bases of the main techniques of modification of the bacterial genome, with particular reference to techniques based on homologous recombination, the use of group II mobile introns, the CRISPR-Cas system, and gene silencing.
Program: The course provides an overview on the main recombinant technologies for gene targeting of bacteria, based on knock-out (deletion), knock-in (insertion), allelic exchange by homologous recombination and gene-silencing using antisense RNAs. It will be deepened their current applications in basic research and uses in biotechnology industries.
